Custom Equipment
Custom furniture automation engineered to specification.
The custom equipment category
Custom equipment, built to your upholstery.
Custom equipment is furniture automation engineered to a manufacturer specification when a piece, a material, or a process has no catalog machine. A plant with a proprietary construction or an operation no standard station performs brings the problem to our engineering group to design and build a machine for.
The work starts from the operation and the upholstery: we study the part, the cover and fill materials, and the throughput target, then design the fixturing, sewing motion, and controls around them. Because the same group builds our standard furniture lines, a custom machine inherits proven heavy duty mechanisms rather than starting from nothing.
Custom equipment is the answer when a furniture operation is genuinely specific to your product and worth automating in volume. Scoping one means defining the operation and the upholstery precisely, the throughput and integration it must meet, and the standard the finished machine is held to, which is the same standard we hold on our own upholstery equipment.
